Dr. Hengsheng Lin, DDS, MSD, is a dual-trained, licensed specialist in Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics.  He is an expert in juvenile growth and development, as well as preventative and interceptive orthodontic treatment to correct disproportion of skeletal discrepancy and dental anomalies.  As a dentist, clinical professor, and Director of UCSF Orthodontic Clinic in Pediatric Dentistry,  Dr. Lin has served over 3,000 patients in the Bay Area for over 20 years.


Dr. Lin trained at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery & Certificate (DDS) in Pediatric Dentistry in 1989.  Moving west to California, he then obtained his Masters of Science in Orthodontics (MSD) from University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 1991.  Dr. Lin has been practicing Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics in his own private practice in Cupertino, San Mateo, and San Francisco for over 20 years.

Dr. Lin has been teaching at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry for over 13 years.  He is the Founder & Director of the Early and Inceptive Orthodontic Clinic, the first of its kind in the field.  In addition, Dr. Lin serves as the Health Sciences Clinical Professor in the Department of Orofacial Sciences in the UCSF Division of Pediatric Dentistry.  Since 1995, Dr. Lin has volunteered at low-income Bay Area communities with the Tzu Chi Foundation and lectured internationally at Fujian Medical University (FJMU) since 2013.  Outside of work, Dr. Lin is an avid traveler, swimmer, and tennis player.  He enjoys meditating, hiking, practicing Tai Chi, biking, walking his dog Big Foot, and spending time with his wife and two children.
